Mongolian Beef Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 500g flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1/4 cup cornflour
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 green onions, sliced into 2-inch pieces
- 2 teaspoons minced ginger
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
For the Sauce:
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup water
- 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare Beef: Coat the slices of flank steak with cornflour. Shake off any excess.
- Make Sauce: In a bowl, combine soy sauce, water, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and set aside.
- Cook Beef: Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the beef in batches, cooking until it’s browned and crispy on the edges. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
- Stir-Fry Aromatics: In the same pan, reduce the heat to medium. Add the ginger and garlic, stir-frying for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.
- Combine Ingredients: Return the beef to the pan with the ginger and garlic. Pour in the sauce. Stir and cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef nicely.
- Add Green Onions: Add the green onions to the pan, stirring them into the beef and sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes.
- Serve: Serve your Mongolian Beef hot, ideally over a bed of steamed rice or with your choice of noodles.
